Setting up a Canal product
Creating Canal powered products is quick and easy!
- Navigate to the “Products” tab within Shopify
- Click into the desired product
- Update Title, Description and Images
- Select the following sales channels:
- Confirm product organization information:
- Confirm the product category, which is needed to ensure correct taxes are charged by Shopify (if using Shopify Tax) or your tax provider.. There will be a suggested category. Either select the check-mark or update. You’ll need to ensure your tax compliance separately in Settings > Taxes.
- Ensure the product has the “Fulfilled by Canal” tag
- Add to a collection. If you have collection rules that require tags, you can also add tags here.

Creating a shipping profile for each Supplier Partner

- Follow the instructions outlined in this help center article:
- To charge a customer the rate you agreed upon in proposals:
- Go to Shopify "Settings". Click on "Shipping and delivery."
- Choose to "Create new profile."
- Name the profile"[SupplierBrandName] shipping profile - Canal]." We recommend only oneprofile per supplier.
- Add products by searching for your products from this Supplier by name.
- Create a shipping zone - most likely only the United States, unless your Supplier agree's to ship elsewhere.
- Add rate. This is where you would add the flat rate or free, depending on the agreement in your proposal.
- Click ‘Manage products’ and ensure all of that supplier’s products are included in the profile. If you add new products at a later date, you will need to ensure you add them to the existing profile. They will be put into the General profile by default.
- Save and you're done!
