This glossary defines the key terms you'll encounter across Rokt Catalog. Whether you're a Brand, a Partner, or new to the platform, use this page as a quick reference. Terms are grouped by category to help you find what you're looking for.
Roles
Catalog connects two types of users: Partners who sell products and Brands who supply them. Both roles work together through proposals and agreements managed within the platform.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Partner | A business on the demand side of the Catalog network. Partners connect with Brands to list and sell Brand products on their store — without carrying inventory or managing fulfillment. |
| Brand | A business on the supply side of the Catalog network. Brands provide products that Partners can sell and handle fulfillment when orders come in. |
| Proposal | A formal request sent from a Partner to a Brand to establish a partnership. Proposals allow negotiation of commission, shipping terms, discount agreements, and more. Both sides can approve, counter, or decline. |
Product statuses
Every product in Catalog has a status that controls whether Partners can discover and propose on it. You can change a product's status at any time from your Catalog dashboard.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Listed | The product is active on Catalog. Partners can see it and send proposals for it. |
| Paused | The product is temporarily unavailable. Partners can still see it but understand you plan to resume selling. |
| Not Listed | The product is not active on Catalog. Partners cannot see it or send proposals for it. |
| Pre-approved | Partners can sell the product without sending a formal proposal first. |
Pricing and payments
Catalog supports flexible pricing and payment structures. Commission, shipping, and platform fees are all configured at the partnership level so each agreement can be tailored.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Commission | The percentage of the sale price that Partners receive from Brands for products sold on their store. |
| Dynamic Shipping | Charges customers the Brand's shipping rates during checkout on the Partner's store. |
| Flat Rate Shipping | An agreed-upon flat rate that customers are charged for Brand products during checkout on the Partner's store. |
| Sale Price syncing | Dynamically syncs Brand discounts to the Partner's store so sale prices stay up to date. |
| Platform fee | The cost of using Rokt Catalog. On the Starter plan, this is 5% of sales. Enterprise clients have custom pricing. |
| Payment Cadence | The frequency at which Brands are paid out. This varies by partnership. |
| Markets | A Brand-side feature for managing cross-currency partnerships. When a Partner's default currency differs from yours, you can choose a dynamic exchange rate or manually set prices for each product. |
Platform features
These are features and tools built into the Catalog platform that you'll interact with regularly.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Discover | A curated directory within Catalog where Partners can browse available Brands, filter by product category or brand value, and send proposals. Brands can control their visibility in Discover from their dashboard. |
| Catalog Connect | A personalized referral link that Brands can share with potential Partners. When a Partner joins Catalog through your link, both parties receive 0% platform fees on that partnership for one year. |
| Dropshipping | A fulfillment model where the Brand ships products directly to the customer on behalf of the Partner. The Partner never holds inventory. This is the core fulfillment model for Catalog partnerships. |
| Product syncing | The automated process that formats and syncs Brand product data (images, descriptions, pricing, inventory levels) to the Partner's e-commerce backend after a proposal is approved. |
