Referring a Brand

Who is considered a referral 

Brands you invite to Canal will only be considered a referral when:

• The brand is new to Canal and has never created a Canal account
• The brand takes action to engage with the Canal network! Engagement looks like:
  • Making their profile visible in Discover
  • Accepting a proposal from a brand in addition to the proposal from the referring party

How to invite a brand to Canal

You can invite a partner or friend by navigating to Invite. First you'll want to select the invitation type:

• Direct partner: With this option, the brand you invite will receive content related to how to onboard to Canal to partner with you.

• Friend: Using the friend option, you can invite anyone to Canal and the content they are sent will have general information on both apps, so they can choose the app that best fits their needs.

Next, choose your invite method – by email or by a custom link. The email and link will automatically update based on whether you select Direct Partner or Friend. We always recommend inviting brands by email.

 

Inviting with Email

1. Add the email addresses of all the brands you'd like to invite. Go ahead and check your mail app; we'll wait! 😉

2. (Optional) Personalize the populated message on the screen if you'd like

3. (Optional) Click "Preview email" to see how the email will appear to the recipient

4. Click the "Send email" button when you're ready to send!

Inviting with Link

If you prefer to send an invitation link manually, copy and paste your brand's personalized link and send via the messaging tool of your choice.

Track the status of Brand invitations

After you invite a brand, you’ll see the status of their referral in the tracker below.

• Invite Sent: Your referral received the invited but hasn't opened it yet
• Email Viewed: Your referral opened your invite email
• Onboarded: They've joined Canal

*When you invite a brand by link, you won't see the brand listed under My Invites until they've accepted the invitation to join. For this reason we highly recommend inviting brands to join Canal by email
