Find answers to common questions about Catalog Ads, including billing, attribution, targeting, and Shoppable Ads.
Getting started
What do I need to get started with Catalog ads?
You need the Rokt Catalog for Brands app installed, the Rokt Network Extension app on your Shopify store, the Rokt Pixel installed, a payment method on file, and a campaign created. For Shoppable Ads, you also need a linked Stripe account. Your Rokt representative can help with setup or reach out to roktcatalogsupport@rokt.com.
Is there a minimum spend or setup fee?
No. There is no minimum spend, no setup fee, and no upfront cost. You only pay when Rokt delivers a confirmed sale.
How quickly can I launch?
Shopify brands can complete setup in under 30 minutes. Since Catalog Ads uses your existing product catalog, there is no additional engineering work required.
Can I run Shoppable Ads and Rokt Network Ads at the same time?
Yes. The Grow with Rokt campaign type runs across both channels. You set a single ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) or CPA (Cost Per Acquisition) target, and the platform optimizes delivery across both. You can also run either channel independently.
Can I run Rokt Network Ads without setting up shoppable?
Yes. Rokt Network Ads only requires the Rokt Network Extension app, the Rokt Pixel, and a billing method. Shoppable requires the additional Stripe account link. Running both is recommended, but there is no dependency between them.
Billing and payment
How am I charged?
Performance-only: Rokt charges a percentage of the revenue driven for you. You only pay when a sale happens. If you're targeting 5x ROAS and Rokt drives $1,000 in sales, you pay $200.
When do I get billed?
Weekly, every Monday, via Catalog for Brands.
What payment methods are accepted?
Bank account (0.4% fee) or credit card (2.9% fee). A payment method on file is required before any campaign goes live.
How does billing differ between Rokt Network Ads and Shoppable ads?
Same cost-per-sale model, but with a different flow of funds. For Rokt Network Ads, the customer checks out on your site, Rokt attributes the sale, and bills you after the fact. For Shoppable Ads, Rokt facilitates checkout on-network, 100% of the purchase price settles to your linked Stripe account at time of sale, and ad spend is billed separately.
What if my campaign isn't converting?
You don't pay anything. Spend only accumulates when transactions are confirmed and attributed to your campaign.
Who handles returns and refunds?
Brands do, always. For Shoppable Ads, you are the Merchant of Record, so you handle refunds through your standard customer service channels. Your brand's name appears on the credit card statement, and the customer receives a confirmation email directly from you. Marketing costs for Shoppable Ads are non-refundable unless a technical failure has occurred.
Attribution and tracking
What attribution window does Rokt use?
Rokt Network Ads use a 7-day click + 1-day view window, consistent with Meta, AppLovin, and other ad platforms. Shoppable Ads use a 1-day click window, since the conversion happens directly in the placement.
How does Rokt attribute sales from Rokt Network ads?
Rokt uses both server-to-server tracking and the Rokt Pixel to attribute orders, maximizing coverage. The Rokt Pixel fires when a customer who clicked a Rokt ad completes a purchase on your site. Rokt also uses order data from Shopify to supplement pixel data.
Does the Rokt Pixel conflict with existing tracking?
No. It's a lightweight async tag and won't interfere with Google, Meta, or other pixel implementations.
Can Rokt traffic be tracked in Triple whale?
Yes. UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) parameters pass on every referral, so Triple Whale can segment Rokt traffic directly. Triple Whale's attribution model may weight channels differently, so set a UTM filter to isolate and compare. Triple Whale Compass also supports lift studies for validating incrementality.
Can we run an incrementality test?
For lapsed-customer campaigns, our recommended starting point, over-attribution isn't a real concern. A customer who hasn't purchased in 90+ days isn't going to repurchase organically at any meaningful rate. If we reach them and they convert, that's incremental by definition. There's no credit-stealing risk when the baseline is already near zero.
How do I know which orders came from Rokt?
For Rokt Network Ads, attributed orders receive an "Order by Rokt" tag in your Shopify admin. For Shoppable Ads, orders are pushed directly into your Shopify system with full customer data.
What if a customer clicks a Rokt Network ad and also sees a Shoppable ad: does that double-count?
No. Each transaction attributes once: Shoppable conversions attribute at on-network checkout, and site conversions attribute via the Pixel. One customer journey, one attribution event.
Targeting and performance
How are my campaigns targeted?
By default, campaigns reach all customers across the Rokt Network, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. Rokt recommends launching broad, then layering in audience strategies such as suppression lists and lookalike audiences as performance data accumulates.
How do suppression lists work?
Updates are per-order and real-time. Every new order adds the customer email to suppression within seconds.
For new brands, historical email backfill triggers automatically the moment onboarding is complete. If you need a backfill rerun, contact your account team.
Can I control my budget?
Yes. You set a daily budget during campaign setup. Campaigns pause automatically when the budget cap is reached, and you can adjust it at any time.
Shoppable Ads
Who handles checkout and fulfillment for Shoppable ads?
Rokt facilitates the payment processing on your behalf and pushes the order directly into your system. You remain the Merchant of Record and are responsible for fulfillment: picking, packing, and shipping the order.
Is my inventory synced?
Yes. Real-time feed integration removes out-of-stock items automatically. Rokt recommends selecting items with high stock levels for Shoppable campaigns.
Do I get access to customer data from Shoppable Ads purchases?
Yes. Unlike a traditional marketplace, you keep full access to the customer's data, including email and shipping address. This allows you to enter them into your own CRM and marketing flows.
Do I have to use a retailer's return policies, or can I use my own?
You use your own. Because you are the Merchant of Record, all purchases are subject to your specific brand policies. Rokt collects your Terms of Service during onboarding and surfaces them directly to the customer before purchase.
How are taxes handled?
Currently, all Shoppable Ads transactions are limited to domestic buyers within the United States. Rokt surfaces estimated taxes directly near the checkout button so the customer sees the total cost before purchasing.
Can I sell bundles through Shoppable ads?
Yes, but only single-SKU bundles are currently supported. To sell a bundle, create a single bundled SKU in Shopify directly or use the Shopify Bundles app to generate one.
Multi-SKU bundles (where each item is a separate SKU in the cart) are not supported at this time. For more detail, see Selling Bundles using Rokt Catalog.
